Timoti’s Seafood Shack - Fernandina Beach, FL
Nothing like jumping feet first into a new gluten lifestyle at the start of a vacation. As if eating during vacay isn’t hard enough, I got a crash course in figuring it all out. The upside of it is that I was in Florida and seafood tends to be naturally gluten free. What typically makes something not gluten free is how it’s made.
I’ve enjoyed Timoti’s before so I was happy to be back. Not only because their food is fantastic, but also because they have a gluten free menu. One of the things I’ve learned on this adventure is that it’s truly up to me to know what I’m putting in my mouth. And the more a restaurant can help me figure that out, the better.
I enjoyed a salad with shrimp, without the croutons. But this wasn’t just any salad. It was one of the freshest salad mix I’ve had in a long time. Tons of fresh veggies with tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, beets on salad greens. Definitely had to add the shrimp being so fresh. After a rough start to the GF adventuring through airports (did you know not all jerky is GF?), this was a welcomed site. Other GF options include their baha and rice boxes, baskets, tacos, and poke bowls. But Timoti’s has something for everyone, even if you’re not GF, so it’s the perfect place to check out when in the area.
