I decided to go a place called Stir Crazy because it seemed fitting after getting up before dawn to hop on a plane and travel. From my research online it looked like a Mongolian grill type place where you can mix your own protein, veggies and sauce and have it cooked right away. I have been to places like this before and really enjoy making the dish my own. It wasn’t very crowded, but it was still before the normal dinner crowd. There are ready to order entrees as well if you don’t feel like dealing with making your own bowl. I opted for the bowl option with chicken, shrimp and wheat noodles. For the veggies, I raided the “market” section and piled on as many veggies as I could, including mushrooms, onions and bamboo shoots. There were about ten sauce options to choose from and I selected the Thai BBQ. I didn’t want anything spicy, but wanted some flavor.
In the end I was happy with my bowl. There was A LOT of food The veggies were tender, but still had a bit of a bite to it (not completely mushy). It was lacking some salt for seasoning, but the soy sauce at the table solved that issue.
The vegetable spring rolls were the best part of the meal. Although it was fried, it was very light and crunchy. The sweet and sour sauce that came with it was also very light on the flavor and complimented the rolls very nicely.
Now, even though I did enjoy the food, I did not think it was worth the price in the end. Eating solo with a soft drink (a very sweet Raspberry Iced Tea) the tab was around $30 after tip. I would expect a bit more flavor and “wow” factor if spending that much.
