To New Adventures

It’s certainly been a while since my last blog post. Although I haven’t been on here as often, I’ve been keeping up with Instagram and posting all about good nom adventures throughout the years. However, I’m on to new adventures this year and would like to share that with you.

In a rather unexpected turn of events, I’ve had to go gluten free. Never in my wildest dream would I have ever thought I needed to be gluten free. I mean, look at my adventures so far. I indulged without a care in the world about anything gluten. And these were some of my favorite adventures, like doughnuts, ramen, and burgers. Any change is hard and this change, this unwelcome change, was that and then some. So how did this change come about? It all started with a migraine, five to be exact, in a row.

One day in March I had a migraine. I normally get one every few months so didn’t really think anything of it. My migraines are fairly debilitating. I have to block out all light and sometimes sound. It starts in the evening and by morning I’m back to my normal self. When it came back the next day, I thought it was odd, but wasn’t super concerned. But then day three came, followed by day four and day five. Needless to say, I made an appointment to see my doctor.

My doctor was amazing. She listened to me, asked follow up questions, and checked me over completely. Everything seemed fine, but she wanted to test my blood for a gluten allergy. My first reaction was surprise and suspicion. Not of her, but that gluten could be the culprit. I thought how could I have made it to 40-something having a gluten sensitivity and not know about it. Sure enough though, my blood work came back with a high reaction to gluten.

And so began my gluten free journey. My goal with this blog moving forward is to share all the adventures, sometimes mis-adventures, that come with a sudden switch. I can already tell you it’s been quite the ride and I look forward to sharing it with you. Cheers to more travel, food, and fun!
