Salt Life Food Shack – Jacksonville Beach, FL
So after eating all that at The Blind Rabbit, we ended up at the Salt Life Food Shack that was just down the street. We could have walked there; however, Jacksonville Beach is can be a bit chilly in February. At least chilly and windy enough that the short drive would be best.
This was another recommendation and it was fantastic. I’ll be honest, when I thought I was going to a “shack” at the beach, I literally though it would be a shack. However, to my surprise Salt Life Food Shack is no shack whatsoever. The outdoor patio would have been a prime spot to eat had it not been cold. There’s a larger than life aquarium on the inside with some exotic looking fishes.
I was bordering on a food coma at this point, but I had to try something. I opted for the quintessential fish taco. It was beautifully crispy as I would expect from any beachside establishment. I had some of the clam chowder that my MIL ordered. Creamy and had a good overall flavor. A good amount of clam as well in the few bites I had. Also tried the fried calamari that my GMIL had and it was crispy. I really liked the sauce as it was different from a traditional cocktail sauce.
I will definitely have to come back on a completely empty stomach so I can try other items off the menu.
