Dino's Subs - Arlington, TX
I know what you're thinking. Subs, really? But I promise you Dino's Subs is not just any run of the mill sub sandwich joint. And after being around since 1980 I think they know a thing or two about subs.
Let's first talk about freshness. All their meats are sliced fresh right when you order. It really doesn't get any fresher than that. You can order from a fairly extensive menu, with everything from a simple ham and cheese to a tasty pizza sub or chicken breast. They also have salads, nachos (crazy I know!), and even some "pastabilities".
You can't help but feel welcomed and at home when you walk in. It has a great down home vibe with the old school wooden tables and chairs decorated with red and white checkered table cloths. We went on a Sunday and they had the Cowboys game on the big screen. What more can you ask for?
I'll tell you what: this sub sandwich masterpiece, the Great Expectation. With a name that like could I really order anything else? It's made with salami, ham, bologna and, of course, cheese. The bread was just perfect and fresh. The sesame seeds added great flavor and texture and it was crunchy and soft at the same time. I ordered it with "the works", which added onions, lettuce, and tomatoes along with a a splash oil and vinegar. I was in sub sandwich heaven. I was also able to order a half pickle spear.
I will say I wasn't sure where to go for this adventure because this wasn't our first choice. I had been in Dallas over the weekend to go to the Texas State Fair and a retro video game convention. We tried to go someplace else first and didn't realize until we got there that they weren't open. We were closeby AND they got a 4.7 rating on Zomato. If you're a regular Zomato user, you know that seeing any rating above a 4.5 is like seeing a unicorn. It's just doesn't happen that often so I knew Dino's had to be the place go.
I highly recommend making the trip out to Dino's Subs in Arlington regardless of where you find yourself in the Metroplex. It's totally worth the drive. I throughly enjoyed the Great Expectations and I've read nothing but rave reviews about their other sandwiches.
